Oh my it is a weekend for the ages at The Pinhook, where all weekends can be described as epochal. It’s a love weekend. A weekend of metal, queerfolk/pop/rock, and veganism. Think that doesn’t sound earth-shattering? You’d be wrong, sucka.

Thursday we host the incomparable Max Indian, and Lighthouse, not to be confused with the Canadian 70’s prog outfit of the same name.

Friday, our excellent and handsome sound guy Greg Klaiber unveils his world-destroying new prog-metal band Zardoz, named after the incredible Sean Connery/John Boorman film. Have you ever seen Zardoz? It’s basically about a naked Sean Connery riding around the earth in a giant stone head, casting spells on people. It’s fucking great. Rich, Noah, and Ryland’s post Tooth outfit HOG opens up, also their debut show. It’s an evening of brand new METAL. I’m gonna be working the bar and punching fools in the face.

The love just oozes out of the walls on Saturday with the (rightly) hyped duo Nervous But Excited, with Shawn Luby’s newish old-timey project Humble Tripe.

Sunday is VEGAN BRUNCH SUCKAS. $7. Noon. Bloody Marys. Be there.

Movie night is going to DESTROY next month.

modern vegans and their brunches

What the hell is wrong with the kids these days. I am referring to “veganism”, a crazy-ass new religiion where people don’t eat any meat or animal products! Crazy! How are we going to defeat the commies on a belly full of “lentils” and “knotted long-bean garlands” and “Sensitive Jim’s Eco-Tastic Seitan ‘Jerky'”? If America plans on remaining an awesome nuclear powered super-badass, it’s going to be through McDonald’s hamburgers, Velveeta, and terrified cruel-farmed geno-chickens.

I don’t understand it, but we at The Pinhook are an open-minded bunch. So next Sunday, October 4th, Chef Shirle (of the kickass food blog Rockin’ The Stove) will host a VEGAN BRUNCH here at The Pinhook. Shirle is an incredible cook, and this promises to be a boffo feed, even if there will be no Eggs Benedict. It starts at noon, $7 bucks gets you a meal, and we will be serving up tasty Bloody Mary’s and other classic day-booze (I am a 9 am tequila man, m’sleff).

We still have a patio. Come sit on it before the weather gets all chilly n’shit.

Notice how, by not using a question mark, I made the title of this post a statement rather than a question. I don’t ask questions. I say things, and people either understand me or they don’t. I don’t even care at all. Not the way I was raised.

Anyway let’s go over the amazing shit that is happening at The ‘Hook in the next two weeks. I’m just going to print the schedule and make notes on each event:

Rich and Tooth sadly played their swan song, last week, but instead of lying around, they’re making new music. Also, it’s my birthday, so do what I say and come see this show.

…if you can bend the laws of time and space to get it out of the Pinhook. This broke-ass photo booth has been sitting in The Pinhook for like 600 years. It’s not actually broken, it just needs chemicals and photo paper. GOOD LUCK TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE TO PUT THOSE IN THERE!

Anyway, if anyone wants it, it’s totally free, but you will have to hire Trosa or somebody to get it out of here. We hired them to put it in, and it nearly destroyed everything.

Speaking of All Your Science, and their shows, one of them is happening next Saturday, September 12th! All Your Science is totally awesome already, but the addition of Chapel Hill’s killer Veelee as the opener just make me want to tear off all my clothes and run through the streets with joy.

Hmmm, what else is happening. Satuday, August 5th is a Fundraiser for multiple sclerosis. Not to help multiple sclerosis, but to get rid of it. Three awesome bands and an art auction!

At the last minute, some awesome DJs said that they would play awesome music (I overuse the word ‘awesome’, don’t I?) next Thursday the 10th. Check out the flyer I made for it that took me only ten damn minutes and is the best flyer in the world.

It’s gonna be AWWWWWWWWWESSSSOMMME!!!!!!
